Mike believes that education is a life-long transformative journey that should not only impart knowledge, but also curate a passion for learning and a genuine curiosity about science. Mike utilizes the principles of backwards design to prioritize intended learning outcomes during all of his courses, rather than an arbitrary list of topics that need to be covered. Throughout this process, Mike integrates several forms of modern teaching tools into his lectures, including the use of live-response systems to gauge student understanding in real time.
